Purchasing Computer Ware
Ummmmm? Please wait as I think…now as I browse….
After extensive and tedious research, though helpful, I was able to distinguish between the various desktops, notebooks and even the latest software available. The process of browsing many pages and reading “blah, blah” of so many sites who are fortunate to have technical writers, was tiring. I was also unaware of the selection choices and brands offered by various companies. It is amazing how many selections are available to consumers. Whether one is willing to spend major bucks or a make a small investment, there is a computer out there to suit your every need. Technologically speaking that is!
If I were given an opportunity to purchase a computer system, I would definitely go with the Portege R500-S5001X - Toshiba Laptop. This particular system offers so many features that I could see myself to be pleased with purchasing. Some of the features include, but are not limited to:
1. 12” screen- though a 19” screen would be my preference
2. spill drop and shock resistance
3. wireless and bluetooth capabilities
4. built-in microphone and head phone
5. 8.18 battery life (Well-needed for those long trips from Alabama to California and Arizona).
6. 3 USB ports for times when I have a printer, digital camera and jump drive working at the same time.
7. 3 year warranty and 1 year warranty on the battery
8. finger print identification system (NOW THIS IS CLEVER)
9. Office ready/instant Office
10. I would also include a custom skin with photo uploader to change the cover whenever I choose. I could have a skin with my family everywhere I go.
11. Lightweight @ 2.41lbs
These are a few of the adds associated with the Portege R500 that I would be most interested in using. My use of technology is not too complex and requires I have the basic knowledge and hard ware to get my work done at a decent speed and the software to accompany my daily activities.
While in my classroom, this laptop would be fun to use as I connect my projector (if a projector could be installed, that would be great), digital camera, video camera or any other device necessary to share technology through teaching with my students.
