Ebooks in My Class?
If I were to create a questionaire for my students concerning the use of Ebooks in the class, and whether they would prefer this method over the usual hardback book, majority would probably agree that its use would be a strong acceptance. My students would see the use of an Ebook as a new and everchanging step towards ‘cool’ and convenient, whereas I may easily differ.
The use of Ebooks in my class would be quite helpful to eliminate the staggering mounds of paper and the costly and time smothering hours of copying English and reading/writing materials. It is sad to think that one of the main uses of Ebooks is to provide each student with an opportunity to obtain the latest edition of a reading assignment, rather than the method of hard copy eliminations.
If given the opportunity, Ebooks would be widely used in order to press forward with n0t only technology innovations, but the ability to ensure the knowledge of reading through the use of technology. I would definitely allow students to read whatever novel is covered within my lessons, research without being mobile, and gain a greater appreciation for technology and the everchanging trend.
Being able to point my students in the direction of research, reading and browsing without worrying about obtaining enough copies, would be wonderful.
Some helpful sites that offer Ebook materials are: gutenberg.org, ebooks.com, drscavanaugh.org/ebooks and even the busyeducator.com if you are willing to take the necessary time to read, search and purchase.
